A sleezy Long Island landlord was caught offering free rent in exchange for sex during the coronavirus outbreak, according to a new report.
The landlord, identified only as “Eddie,” advertised the disturbing arrangement on Craigslist in a post titled “Room Share for Submissive Female,” an Inside Edition investigation set to air Thursday found.
“During these hard times Covid-19 has thrown many in a tail spin… If you are a submissive female…and wanting to barter session/playtime once per week in lieu of rent we should talk,” the ad said.
When an Inside Edition producer responded to the posting, Eddie said he wanted to try out the “arrangement” first and asked her to meet him at a hotel room.
“He says to wear my hair down, no jewelry and minimal makeup,” the producer said. “And then meet him in the room, undress and put on a pair of stilettos he got me.”
But when a TV-crew stood the creep up outside the hotel, he swore he wasn’t trying to take advantage of women during the pandemic.
“No. She had the choice, you know… to take up on the offer…,” he told them, before adding: “I’m going to go.”
“So you were willing to give her a place to stay for free in exchange for sex?” the reported pushed.
“No, I never said sex,” Eddie responded, before driving off. According to the outlet, his text messages proved otherwise.
He later called the producer to apologize and maintain that he’s “a decent guy.”
A report earlier this month found that landlords across the country have been offering similar nauseating arrangements, as hard-up tenants fall behind on rent amid the outbreak.
“Since this started, [landlords] have been taking advantage of the financial hardships many of their tenants have in order to coerce their tenants into a sex-for-rent agreement — which is absolutely illegal,” said Sheryl Ring, the legal director at Open Communities, a legal aid and fair housing agency in Chicago.
“We’ve heard some landlords are attempting to use the situation where a tenant falls behind to pressure a tenant into exchanging sex for rent,” Ring added.
