49ers trade Matt Breida, Marquise Goodwin in wild NFL Draft 2020 day

Two members of the 49ers’ Super Bowl LIV squad are on the move.

The 49ers traded running back Matt Breida to the Dolphins in exchange for a fifth-round pick, which they used to select offensive lineman Colton McKivitz of West Virginia on Saturday.

Breida, 25, tallied 743 total yards and two touchdowns last year on 142 touches in 13 games played last season. The 49ers’ running back depth chart now consists of Tevin Coleman, Raheem Mostert and Kyle Juszczyk.

This is the second offensive line move general manager John Lynch has made on the third day of the 2020 NFL Draft after six-time Pro Bowl left tackle Joe Staley announced his retirement at age 35 because of health concerns.

The team had given up their fifth-round pick as a part of the Trent Williams swap with the Redskins. Washington also received a 2021 third-round pick for the disgruntled lineman.

Moments after the Breida trade was announced, multiple sources reported the 49ers had dealt wide receiver Marquise Goodwin and their sixth-round pick (No. 210) to the Eagles in exchange for their sixth-round pick (No. 190).

Goodwin, 29, caught just 12 passes for 186 yards and one touchdown last year in nine games played. He was placed on injured reserve in December with multiple issues, including a knee injury.

San Francisco had been actively shopping Goodwin for some time. Earlier this week, it was reported Lynch had put three other players — defensive end Dee Ford, linebacker Kwon Alexander and safety Jaquiski Tartt — on the trading block in order to lower their salary cap liabilities.
