Ayesha Curry sued by branding company for over $10 million

Ayesha Curry, the wife of NBA superstar Stephen Curry, is being sued by a celebrity branding company seeking more than $10 million for breach of contract.

The lawsuit was filed Wednesday in Los Angeles Superior Court by attorneys for Flutie Entertainment, which claims it was cut out of all profits and ownerships after a five-year agreement with Curry was ended in May 2019.

Flutie Entertainment said in the suit that Curry was trying to build herself into a global brand and signed a deal in November 2014 with the Florida-based company. Robert A. Flutie, the owner of Flutie Entertainment, believed the five years his firm worked with Curry brought “significant and unprecedented results” with her being hired as a host on a Food Network show and on ABC’s “Great American Baking Show.”

Flutie Entertainment stated in the lawsuit it has been denied its share of the proceeds from the businesses and the value of the company has been devalued since the agreement ended.

Flutie Entertainment also is looking for monetary damages as a result of Curry landing deals to produce a best-selling cookbook and becoming involved in other food-based businesses.

The 31-year-old Curry is a defendant along with six other affiliated companies and a former Flutie employee who now works for Curry. Flutie is also seeking to gain a 50 percent interest in Curry’s Homemade and Yardie Girl Productions, an entertainment-based company.

Curry’s attorney Michael Plonsker told the Associated Press the suit’s claims are without merit.

“Ayesha Curry terminated her business relationship with disgruntled manager Robert Flutie in early 2019,” Plonsker said. “We are confident that the legal process will find his accusations nonsensical and completely unfounded.”
