Wireless bra sales up 40 percent as women work from home amid coronavirus

Don’t fence them in.
Purchases of comfy wireless bras have nearly doubled since the coronavirus lockdown has forced women to work from home. That’s according to UK-based retailer Figleaves, which says sales of non-wired bras and bralettes are up 40 percent this week compared to the same week last year.
The lingerie label says customers have been flocking to brands like Sloggi — which stitches soft-cup “zero feel” bras — with sales of those styles skyrocketing 70 percent as the world quarantines.
It makes sense that ladies are letting the girls run loose (so to speak) and taking a more relaxed approach to foundation garments. After all, who needs underwire cutting into your skin when you’re dealing with a global pandemic (not to mention home-schooling your kids and juggling work calls in your pajamas)?
Some women, in fact, are ditching their bras altogether.

Twitter users have been hilariously bragging about going bra-free while social distancing. And Allison Powell, a 24-year-old fashion buyer who’s been working from home in NYC’s Hell’s Kitchen for the last two weeks (and has previously advocated going braless in the office) says this is the ideal moment for women to say buh-bye to brassieres.

“What better time to start going braless?” she tells The Post. “It’s 10 times more comfortable and think of all the money you’ll save. Even if you’re on your webcam for work calls, it’s never going to show more than your shoulders up, so no one’s going to see. The only thing you have to lose is bras for the rest of your life.”
But Victoria Shelton, a garment technologist for Figleaves, insists that chest support is still crucial, even if you’re staying home.
“Due to their weight, you may damage your posture or have back pain if your breasts aren’t fully supported,” she warns, suggesting that women switch to lighter options instead of tossing their brassieres altogether.
For those of you not ready to take the full #braless plunge, here are some comfy, cozy wireless styles to slip on from the comfort of home. Bonus? Many of them are also sale.
