Children around the world are in hibernation due to the coronavirus pandemic — and a global teddy bear hunt is underway to help brighten their spirits.

Inspired by the book “We’re Going on a Bear Hunt” by British author Michael Rosen, the stuffed toys have been cropping up in windows, including in the US, providing kids a safe activity as they stroll around their neighborhoods with their parents, according to the BBC.

Among the displays was one by New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern, who put two bears in the window of her home in Wellington.

Tanya Ha, a resident of Melbourne, Australia, said she was inspired to put teddy bears in her window with the help of her two kids after hearing about similar hunts around the globe.

“I’ve always felt a sense of my local community, and being part of it,” Ha, who works in scientific communications, told the BBC.

“It’s just fun. There’s a real buzz in sharing [science] and the delight in how things work around you,” added Ha, whose displays include educational items aimed at adults.
