Michael Chavis is seeing more of his neighbor than he expected to during the coronavirus outbreak.
Taking to Twitter on Monday night, the Red Sox first baseman detailed an interesting encounter with a would-be influencer, who stepped out in her birthday suit.
“So I’m working out outside today and while I was jump roping one of my neighbors decided to walk (slowly) to her mailbox completely naked while her husband was filming,” Chavis tweeted. “I don’t know what that means exactly but what a journey this Coronavirus has taken us on.”
When a commenter replied, “Welcome to Florida, kid,” Chavis replied: “It ain’t just sulfur in the water down here buddy, I can tell ya that.”
Chavis concluded by saying he ran inside to detail the story to his girlfriend.
The Red Sox’s spring training facility is located in Fort Myers, Fla. Red Sox GM Brian O’Halloran recently said the majority of the organization’s major and minor league players have returned to their homes amid the pandemic.
“We do have some players who live locally or fairly locally,” O’Halloran said, according to Mass Live. “And I believe there are a small handful that are still in Fort Myers. I think we’re talking about single digits at this point. Fewer than 10.”
Chavis, a Georgia native, said he’s keeping in shape and staying positive amid the current circumstances.
“Since the Green Monster isn’t available at the moment I’ll be social distancing balls across these trees until baseball is back,” Chavis captioned a video last week on Instagram.
“I’m taking advantage of this opportunity to get away from all the noise of everyday life and get outside away from screens. It’s been extremely refreshing and actually enjoyable. Find the positives they’re always out there!” he continued.
The Red Sox selected Chavis 26th overall in the 2014 MLB Draft. He hit .254 with 18 home runs and 58 RBIs in 95 games as a rookie in 2019.
