John Legend, Chrissy Teigen buy second Manhattan penthouse

Chrissy Teigen and John Legend have just plunked down $7.7 million on a second penthouse in their Manhattan building, according to city property records filed on Tuesday.

The purchase was first reported by the Real Deal.

The pair already own a penthouse in the landmarked Brewster Carriage House, at 374 Broome St. in Nolita, which they bought for $9.02 million in 2018.

Now that they’ve invested more than $16 million in the building, it appears as if a major renovation is on the horizon — which would include a large playroom for their two children, Luna and Miles, friends say.

This new triplex penthouse will add an additional 3,500 square feet to their lair — with three more bedrooms and 2½ bathrooms. It features custom windows, original exposed brick, cast-iron columns, wide-plank wood floors and 12-foot beamed ceilings.

Their new penthouse hit the market in September 2019 asking $8.5 million, before its price dropped to $7.99 million in November.

There’s a main living room on the upper level with a gas fireplace and a large media room on the floor below with an additional gas fireplace. The master bedroom features exposed brick, a skylight, custom cabinets, a walk-in closet and a large ensuite bathroom. The lower level features an open kitchen/dining room and a laundry room.

Up top, meanwhile, there’s a 1,500-square-foot planted roof terrace with stunning city views, along with an outdoor kitchen and deck.

The seller is Nicolas Poitevin, according to city property records. He appears to be a quantitative trader at SG Securities, according to LinkedIn. The listing broker was Tom Doyle, of Sotheby’s International Realty.

The couple previously lived in the same building — but in a one-bedroom unit, which they sold in 2016 for $3.9 million.

The Brewster Carriage House was built in the 19th century. At the time, the building was used to manufacture horse carriages. It was converted into luxury homes in 2005.
