Suffolk County cops search for suspect who decapitated family’s cat

Cops are searching for a sicko who chopped the head off a cat in Long Island and left its carcass in a yard, authorities said Tuesday.

The “gruesome discovery” was made Monday morning when a Centereach family found their “beloved” feline, Pepper, beaten and headless in the center of the backyard of their house on Oak Street, the Suffolk County SPCA said.

The “heinous act” happened sometime late Sunday or early Monday, Suffolk County authorities said.

Pepper was last seen alive between 7 and 8 p.m. Sunday, when she was fed outside the home.

Cops said a necropsy revealed the black and tan kitty’s death was not caused by another animal but likely a sharp tool.

The female feline was also found to have blunt force trauma to the chest and broken ribs.

The Suffolk County SPCA is offering a $1,000 reward to help collar the crackpot.
