Serial thieves busted for string of Manhattan robberies

Two serial thieves were busted for a months-long string of Manhattan burglaries, police and sources told The Post.

Cops arrested Jayson Maldonado, 34, on Wednesday for a series of crimes across Tribeca and the East Village, where he would break into homes and steal packages and other property, sources said.

Maldonado, who has at least 19 prior arrests including charges of menacing, petty larceny, criminal mischief and assaulting a police officer, was slapped with burglary charges for 13 incidents dating back to Jan 14, the sources said.

Maldonado was freed without bail following the arrest, infuriating NYPD officers who feared the criminal would take advantage of New Yorkers amid panic over the coronavirus pandemic.

“We have enough to worry about with the virus, we don’t need career criminals walking the street. It’s only a matter of hours before he picks on some innocent victim during these trying times,” one Manhattan officer fumed.

Maldonado is expected back in court in June.

Police also picked up 56-year-old career crook Kenneth Flora, who was hit with 15 burglary charges for a spate of crimes across Midtown beginning in December.

Flora, a Brooklyn parolee, has more than 50 past busts, sources told The Post.
