Two charged for making drone drug drops at New Jersey federal prison

Looks like the feds got the drop on these guys.

Prosecutors said two New Jersey men have been charged with using a drone to drop contraband into Fort Dix federal prison.

Nicolo Denichilo, 38, and Adrian Goolcharran, 35, were accused of making at least seven illicit airborne deliveries of marijuana, steroids, syringes and cell phones into the Jersey prison yard since July 2018.

Goolcharran, who was charged but remains on the loose, allegedly coordinated the drops using text messages and aerial photos of the prison to determine the best drop locations, with Denichilo allegedly helping to make the prison yard deliveries, federal prosecutors said.

After a drop in April, local police stopped and questioned the two men about five miles from the prison, but they were not arrested at the time.

On March 7, a man fitting Goolcharran’s description was seen with another on a surveillance camera flying a drone from a wooded area near the prison — and later learned that Goolcharran had brought drones into a shop for repairs on several occasions.

The two men were approached by police on Thursday and fled — although Denichilo was nabbed.

Prison officials also found an inmate inside the walls with 34 cell phones, nine phone chargers, 51 SIM cards, and other telephone equipment, prosecutors said.

In all, authorities said they seized more than 160 cell phones, 150 SIM cards, 74 cell phone batteries, 35 syringes, and two saw blades, as well as marijuana and steroids, from the prison drops.

Denichilo was arraigned Friday and released on a $100,000 bond.

Both men are charged with conspiring to smuggle contraband and to defraud the government and smuggling contraband into a federal prison.

They face up to five years in prison and up to $100,000 in fines.
