Style star Margherita Maccapani Missoni shares her spring essentials

The granddaughter of Missoni founders Ottavio and Rosita and daughter of its current creative director Angela, Margherita Maccapani Missoni is leaning into her chic roots. The 36-year-old style icon — who studied acting at Columbia University in NYC before modeling for Vogue, Vanity Fair and W and serving as the face of Missoni fragrances — recently took over as creative director of M Missoni, a spinoff of her family’s famed fashion house. Her first two shows were applauded for their embrace of sustainable heritage (some of the knitwear was made from recycled Missoni yarn) finger-on-the-pulse instincts (tie-dye sweats, anyone?) and playful, experiential approach (models were ferried on trams and a double-decker bus that stopped at Pink’s Hot Dogs in LA). Fittingly, Margherita — who has two sons with her husband, racecar driver Eugenio Amos — was honored with the Innovator Award at Maison De Mode’s Sustainable Style Awards last month in LA.

Here, she shares with Alexa the pieces that keep her in fashion’s fast lane.

“I love these irreverent ceramic pieces designed by Jake Clark. There’s a sense of humor about them that I find endearing, funny and very clever.”
