The coronavirus death toll in the United States jumped to 14 on Friday — with all but one case in Washington state, according to reports.
Two more people have died from the bug at EvergreenHealth in Kirkland, hospital CEO Jeff Tomlin confirmed to local outlet KING 5.
A total of 11 people have died of COVID-19 in the Kirkland hospital, the outlet reported.
One person died at Seattle’s Harborview Medical Center and another died in Snohomish County, according to the report.
Most of the Kirkland cases are connected to an outbreak at the Life Care Center nursing home.
Specific information about the new fatalities was not immediately available.
A total of 74 people have tested positive for the virus in Washington state, including two Microsoft employees — one at the main company and another at its subsidiary LinkedIn, NBC News reported.
A part-time concessions vendor at CenturyLink Field, where the Seahawks play, is among those who tested positive.
The only confirmed person to die of COVID-19 outside Washington state was a 71-year-old who succumbed to the illness after he was “likely exposed” on the Grand Princess cruise, during its Feb. 11-21 voyage from San Francisco to Mexico and back, county health officials said.
More than 225 coronavirus cases have been reported across the US by Friday morning, according to NBC News.
