Sen. Amy Klobuchar is dropping out of the 2020 Democratic presidential race and intends to endorse former Vice President Joe Biden, according to a report Monday.
The Minnesota lawmaker is expected to fly to Dallas on Monday evening to join Biden at a rally — a day before 14 states go to the polls on Super Tuesday, the Associated Press reported.
Klobuchar’s campaign was “very nervous” that she would lose her home state to Sen. Bernie Sanders, the Democratic front-runner who is holding a campaign rally in St. Paul on Monday evening, a Democratic National Committee official told The Post.
Klobuchar is the third Democratic hopeful to pull out of the race in recent days.
Billionaire businessman Tom Steyer pulled the plug on his campaign on Saturday after a disappointing finish in the South Carolina primary, which Biden won handily.
And former South Bend, Ind., Mayor Pete Buttigieg announced he was ending his campaign in a speech Sunday evening.
Their withdrawals from the race narrow the field to Biden, Sanders of Vermont, Sen. Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts, former New York Mayor Mike Bloomberg and Rep. Tulsi Gabbard of Hawaii.
Warren tweeted “thank you to my friend” minutes after news broke of Klobuchar exiting the race.
“You’ve been a champion for working families and women in politics, and I look forward to keeping up that fight by your side,” Warren wrote.
Klobuchar, who touted her Midwestern background on the campaign trail, came in fifth in the Iowa caucuses, and then finished third in New Hampshire.
But she came in sixth in Nevada and South Carolina behind both Steyer and Buttigieg.
