‘Dear John’ pledges USPS ceasefire — if woman’s missing ashes found

Dear John: Just read your column about the 10-year-late package delivery. Blame the post office, as usual. But this went to Toronto — you know, in Canada.

Maybe you should be putting the blame there. In over 35 years of delivering mail, I’ve seen plenty, but, this went to Canada. Why don’t you blame them? D.N.

Dear D.N.: Oh, Canada! OK, let’s blame Canada Post.

But the email you are referring to was a follow-up to one about the US Postal Service losing the ashes of a woman sent from a crematorium to the family. And that didn’t go through Canada.

Let me say it again: I love the post office. Most of the time, my own mail comes and goes without incident. Lately, however, my mail has been getting lost — perhaps because I’m writing negative stuff about the post office in my column.

So, USPS, this is my cease-fire.

Just find that woman’s ashes, and we are all good.
