Sonny Mehta, the late head of Penguin Random House’s Alfred A. Knopf imprint, left a more than $25 million estate to his wife and son, according to court papers filed in Manhattan.

The 77-year-old legendary publisher, whose given name was Ajai Singh Mehta, died from pneumonia complications Dec. 30.

Mehta, who was originally from India, had assets worth over $25 million, which he left to his wife, Gita, and son, Aditya Singh Mehta, according to his will and accompanying court papers filed in Manhattan Surrogate’s Court on Friday.

The will said it only applies to Mehta’s American assets, and court papers did not specify whether he had additional assets abroad — or how much they would be worth.

Mehta — who was at the helm of Knopf for over 31 years, publishing bestsellers including E L James’ “Fifty Shades of Grey” trilogy and the English translation of Steig Larsson’s “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo” series — left his physical property, including his 550 Park Ave. apartment, and insurance policies to his wife, according to the will he signed in 2010.

Of the remaining estate, Mehta left two-thirds to Gita and one-third to Aditya, the court papers say.

Estate lawyer Stuart Goldstein declined to comment.

“I don’t know anything about” the inheritance, Gita told The Post when reached by phone.

Adiyta, whose address in the court papers is listed in Singapore, could not immediately be reached for comment.
