Weird But True

Deer bolts through Indiana grocery store, gets stuck on deli counter

This doe just wanted to save a buck — but nearly ended up as the supermarket special herself.

An insane video posted to Facebook shows a deer prancing through the aisles of an Indiana Kroger as shocked shoppers looked on in disbelief.

One woman, Brigitte Dan, also known by her Vietnamese name, Von, witnessed the wild event in the Zionsville store.

“I saw a huge deer run frantically toward me, at first I thought it was a German Shepard, so I pushed my kids out of the way but soon realized it was a deer!” Dan told CNN.

But the kids seemed to love it, with one child seen gleefully cheering in the video.

“Come on! How did that thing escape?!” the little tyke shouts amid the chaos.

Ironically, a photo then shows the deer slumped over a deli counter.

“Well Kroger sells fresh food. That was a little too fresh,” one Facebook user quipped.

“I hope, in her time near the meat case, the deer noticed our expanded selection of plant-based protein products,” Eric Halvorson, a Kroger spokesperson, told CNN.

Fortunately, the confused animal avoided Kroger’s butcher’s block and made it out of the store — but she did suffer a nosebleed after trying to jump over the deli counter and hitting the scale.
