Man who attacked NYPD captain busted for joyriding in stolen car, cops say

The man who attacked a plainclothes NYPD captain on the street was busted again, this time for joyriding in a stolen car, police and sources said Saturday.
Elijah Hodge, 19, allegedly hopped into a blue 2009 Toyota Camry that was left idling about 3:30 p.m. Friday near the corner of Blake and Pine streets in East New York, officials said.
The driver had stepped away from the car for a few minutes, cops said.
Hodge drove the Camry into Manhattan, where officers pulled him over for failing to signal near East Sixth Street and Avenue D. When cops walked up to the car, four other men jumped out and ran.
Hodge tried to crawl out through the passenger side door, but cops grabbed him — and found a knife in his pants pocket.

The Brooklyn man was hit with a slew of charges, including criminal possession of stolen property, criminal possession of a weapon and unauthorized use of a vehicle as well as a license plate violation, authorities said.

Hodge has a long rap sheet, including a bust in October for assaulting Capt. Stephen Spataro, whom he taunted and punched in the head on Tenth Avenue near West 41st street.

He also has been connected to a string of assaults in August and has had at least two robbery charges, police said.
At the time of his arrest Friday, Hodge had an active bench warrant, according to authorities.
He was awaiting arraignment Saturday.
