Alleged thief who robbed Bronx granny arrested by police

The heartless thief who snatched $20 from an elderly woman’s hands and then refused to give it back has been arrested, the NYPD announced Friday.

Joanne Garcia, 31, of the Bronx was charged with robbery in the third degree and grand larceny in the fourth degree, police said.

Garcia is accused of walking into a Bronx bodega on Saint Ann’s Avenue on Jan. 24 around 10 a.m. and snatching the $20 bill from the 84-year-old victim’s hand as she was waiting to purchase something, police said.

The robbery was caught on camera and shows Garcia brazenly grabbing the woman’s money, and then sticking around to purchase something, video shows.

“This is my money… I ain’t giving nothing back,” the alleged granny thief snapped at the victim and her daughter, according to ABC 7.

The victim’s daughter demanded she hand back the money and Garcia then handed her a bill before taking off, the outlet said.

When the daughter realized it was a $1 bill not a twenty, she chased after the woman and the two scuffled before Garcia managed to slip away.
