Why Dak Prescott is not asking Aaron Rodgers’ opinion of Mike McCarthy

Dak Prescott isn’t interested in Mike McCarthy’s past relationships, he’s more focused on the future they can build together in Dallas.

During a recent interview with NBC Sports, Prescott said he won’t be seeking Aaron Rodgers out to discuss McCarthy, amid the alleged rift between the Packers quarterback and his former coach.

“No, not at all,” the Cowboys quarterback said. “I don’t care to get a feel from somebody else off of their judgment, their relationships. I know relationships are completely individual and I don’t even want to warp my mind off of what somebody else thinks.”

Prescott is ready to get to work with McCarthy, his second NFL head coach, after the Cowboys parted ways with Jason Garrett after nine-plus seasons.

Rodgers, whose patchy history with McCarthy has been well-documented, did send his former coach a congratulatory text after landing the Cowboys job.

“I sent him a text, and he sent me a text back,” Rodgers said earlier this month.

Tensions between Rodgers and McCarthy appeared to reach a boiling point during the 2018 season in Green Bay, with the quarterback voicing his frustration over the offense.

Following McCarthy’s abrupt dismissal in late 2018, the Packers hired Titans offensive coordinator Matt LaFleur. Earlier this month, San Francisco squashed Green Bay’s Super Bowl dreams with a 37-20 victory in the NFC Championship Game.
