Terrifying truck photo revealed to be prank

Talk about a cliffhanger.

Tennessee park officials alarmed social media users after sharing a terrifying Facebook photo of a truck parked precariously close to a cliff’s edge. Fortunately, everyone can rest easy because it was a prank all along.

The hair-raising photo — posted by Fall Creek Falls State Park on Dec. 28 — depicts an “abandoned” pickup truck resting on an outcrop high above a gorge.

As it turns out, the nail-biting visual was an optical illusion — the truck was actually a toy. Subsequent photos show the miniature model next to life-sized cars in the attraction’s parking lot. The Facebook post reads, “It [the toy truck] will be in Ranger Sean’s patrol vehicle if the owner wants it back.”

Naturally, the vehicular “rickroll” was a hit with Facebook users, racking up more than 3,000 reactions and responses like, “You really had me going, kudos for such great imagination and prank!”

“Hot Wheels commercial combined with national parks!!!” said another of the “mind-truckery.”

One commenter even posted a photo of a snowman at the same site — which was actually the stone railing along a hiking path and not a hundred-foot-high cliff as implied in the original pic.

In the realm of visual gags, the truck troll trails behind this mischievous college student punking classmates with a scary costume for Halloween 2018.
