Bronx teen in custody for killing man over $1 on Christmas Eve

Police charged a teenager with murder and gang assault Tuesday for the fatal Christmas Eve mugging of a Bronx man — over just $1, police said.

Abu Conteh, 18, was taken in police custody Tuesday morning for the brutal caught-on-video beatdown of Juan Fresnada, who was stomped by three men outside a McDonald’s on Third Avenue.

Fresnada died at Lincoln Hospital three days after the assault.

Two other men involved in the attack have been identified, police said.

Fresnada was walking near 163rd Street with a 20-year-old man at about 1:25 a.m when the trio jumped the pair — punching, stomping and slamming one of the victims with a trashcan, video shows.

Conteh, of Grand Avenue, was ordered held without bail in Bronx criminal court on charges of second-degree murder, as well as first- and second-degree gang assault in the vicious attack.

He has a prior petit larceny charge on his criminal record.
