Times Square New Year’s Eve revelers luck out with forecast of clear skies, mild temperatures

Times Square will be a no-freeze zone for New Year’s Eve.

New York City’s stretch of mild temperatures will continue through the holiday, with the thermometer steady in the 40s, said Accuweather meteorologist Carl Erickson.

There will be a good amount of rain before the countdown to 2020 starts, however.

A drenching storm will sweep through starting Sunday afternoon, with a half-inch to an inch of rain forecast. On-and-off showers will linger through Monday before the sun comes out on Tuesday.

New Year’s Eve could see temps top out near 50 degrees, and it will stay dry throughout the evening, providing a clear view of the ball as it drops at midnight.
