Reggie Bullock’s stint with the Knicks has been a tragically sad one so far. As he rehabbed from spinal surgery, his sister Keiosha Moore was shot and killed in Baltimore in early November.
She was Bullock’s second sister murdered in his hometown after Mia Henderson was killed there in 2014. Nothing can ever ease the pain, but perhaps Bullock will have a little more of an escape now.
On Tuesday, the Knicks announced Bullock will participate in his first practice with the team Wednesday. After failing his physical in July following his agreeing to terms, Bullock needed spinal fusion surgery.
Mike Miller, the interim coach, has no idea how many practices Bullock will need before making his Knicks debut, but it doesn’t seem that close. The Post reported before training camp that January was a strong possibility for his debut.
“Not sure yet, as he’s just been cleared,’’ Miller said. “He got a full workout in today. … So we’ll see how he progresses. It was great to find that out and to get him back. We’re excited. As far as a timetable, we can’t really say anything specific until he gets out there and has a chance to go up and down.’’
The Knicks signed Bullock because they wanted to improve their 3-point shooting. They reworked his original deal and signed him to a one-year, $4 million pact when they realized his back wasn’t right. The original deal was two years, $21 million.
“I think just his experience and who he is,’’ Miller said of what Bullock can bring to the team. “He’s a very good player on both ends of the floor. I think he’s going to add some things to the defensive side. There’s no question that he’s a really good shooter.’’
The 6-foot-6 swingman shot 37.7 percent from 3-point range last season with the Pistons and Lakers. The 2013 first-round pick is a career 39.2 percent 3-point shooter — which is excellent.
Bullock has not been made available to the media since training camp began, nor did he talk after he signed.
Tuesday’s 143-120 win over Atlanta was the first time six Knicks players scored at least 17 points in the same game since 2010. … Point guard Elfrid Payton (nine assists) led the club in dishes for the fourth time this season. … Mitchell Robinson’s 22-point, 13-rebound game marked his first 20-and-10 game of his career. … After going 4 of 12 in Denver, rookie RJ Barrett amassed his season-high 27 points on 77 percent shooting (10 of 13). … The Knicks play next in Miami on Friday.
