K-Pop star, Kim Nam-joon of BTS, admits to losing 33 pairs of AirPods

New Yorkers aren’t the only ones who can’t stop losing their AirPods.

A member of the fanatically beloved South Korean boy band BTS admitted he has a chronic and expensive problem: He can’t stop losing AirPods.

Rapper Kim Nam-joon, 25, is on his 34th pair of Apple’s popular and pricey Bluetooth headphones, he said in a live-streamed video interview this weekend. In the Q&A with BTS’ rabidly devoted “A.R.M.Y.” fan base, Nam-joon — also known simply as RM — physically clapped when one watcher told a story about losing their AirPods before sharing the fact that he’s personally lost 33 pairs of the wireless earwear.

When he opens the Bluetooth settings on his phone, he added, he sees all of his old pairs and mourns them.

Shocked listeners quickly began calculating how much money RM has spent on AirPods, which can retail for upward of $200 a pair. By one Twitter user’s estimate, RM has spent nearly $8,000 on AirPods, noting that’s “the kind of rich that he is.”

Others suggested he wasn’t losing the pods so much as donating them Robin Hood-style to the world.

“Sprinkling AirPods all over the globe like a little AirPod fairy,” writes one fan.

Other revelations in the interview included that RM loves pineapples on his pizza and bleaches his hair roughly every 10 days.

BTS, along with rapper Post Malone, will perform in Times Square on New Year’s Eve for ABC’s “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve With Ryan Seacrest 2020.”
