Penn State vs. Alabama: Turnovers will help Nittany Lions cover

The Alabama and Penn State men’s basketball teams have both have changed how they operate on offense entering their meeting on Saturday afternoon in University Park, Pa.

Alabama was ranked 155th in the nation in 2018-19 in possessions per game, and that has raced up to No. 6 this season with former Buffalo coach Nate Oats coming in and implementing a more uptempo style.

This has also led to Alabama yielding 77.8 points per game despite giving up fewer points on a per-possession basis this season, huge considering Penn State’s improvement on offense.

A season ago, Penn State ranked 228th in the country in points per possession compared to 58th this season.

A big reason why is the amount of steals the Nittany Lions generate on a per-possession basis, which ranks 13th in the country.

With Alabama ranking 320th in the country with 22.5 percent of their possessions ending in a turnover, it will lead to a lot of transition baskets and a commanding victory for Penn State.

The Play: Penn State, -10.
