Fantasy football: Players to start, sit for NFL Week 14

The Post’s Drew Loftis evaluates all the relevant fantasy football news ahead of Week 14 of the NFL season.

Big Weeks

James White RB, Patriots, vs. Chiefs (FanDuel $6,000/DraftKings $5,500)

We don’t like chasing points, but even as stout as the Patriots’ defense has been, and even though the Chiefs’ unit has played better recently, this feels like a game in which the Patriots will need to score points — which means more passing formations, which means more White.

Devonta Freeman RB, Falcons, vs. Panthers (FD $6,000/DK $5,400)

The only team that hasn’t totaled more than 30 fantasy points from RBs against the Panthers since Week 8 is the Falcons, but that was without a healthy Freeman.

Zach Pascal WR, Colts, at Buccaneers (FD $6,100/DK $5,500)

T.Y. Hilton is expected to be out again and Chester Rodgers was recently sent to the IR. The Bucs are one of the worst in the league defending the pass and one of the best at defending the run. If the Colts target Tampa Bay’s weakness, Pascal will have a large role. Also put Parris Campbell on the radar.

Vance McDonald TE, Steelers, at Cardinals (FD $5,800/DK $4,300)

Is McDonald a tight end? Check. Is his team playing the Cardinals? Check. That means we start him, right? Check.

Small Weaks

Todd Gurley RB, Rams, vs. Seahawks (FD $7,600/DK $6,200)

Seattle has allowed an opposing team’s RBs to top 100 yards rushing just once all season, a threshold Gurley has yet to cross this season. He doesn’t have more than three receptions since Week 4.

Kenyan Drake RB, Cardinals, vs. Steelers (FD $6,100/DK $5,200)

Yeah, he is likely to get the majority of the workload, but he has been unimpressive since his Week 9 Arizona debut.

Marlon Mack RB, Colts, at Buccaneers (FD $7,300/DK $6,000)

Appears on track to make his return from a hand injury this week, but in a remarkably difficult matchup. Only the 49ers and Patriots allow fewer fantasy points to RBs. Only the Jets have allowed fewer rushing yards.

Stefon Diggs WR, Vikings, vs. Lions (FD $8,000/DK $7,600)

Adam Thielen is likely out again, so Diggs could be shadowed by Darius Slay, or bracketed in coverage, or face double coverage. Point being, with all the weaknesses the Lions have on defense, no reason to force it to Diggs.
