Cole Hamels returning to NL East with $18 million Braves deal

The Mets will be seeing more of Cole Hamels again.

The veteran southpaw agreed to a one-year, $18 million deal with the Braves on Wednesday, The Post’s Joel Sherman confirmed. Hamels, 35, had a 3.81 ERA with 142 strikeouts in 141 2/3 innings last season with the Cubs.

Hamels spent his first nine-plus seasons with the Phillies before playing parts of four seasons with the Rangers.

In 34 career starts against the Mets, Hamels is 9-14 with a 3.89 ERA and 218 strikeouts in 212 2/3 innings.

The Braves have been active in free agency this offseason. They signed left-handed reliever Will Smith to a three-year, $40 million contract last month. They also inked ex-Met Travis d’Arnaud to a two-year, $16 million deal.
