UK backpacker Aslan King’s body found in Australian creek

The body of a missing British backpacker was discovered Tuesday — three days after he vanished on a camping trip in Australia, according to new reports.

Aslan King, 25, an illustrator from Brighton who just relocated to Australia two weeks ago, was visiting a popular tourist region in Victoria with his friends when he was last seen Saturday, the BBC reported.

His body was discovered Tuesday morning about 0.6 miles away in a creek, according to the report.

King was with four pals around 2 a.m. local time Saturday when he suffered a suspected seizure, the outlet reported. He ran into surrounding bushland and likely lost his bearings, authorities said.

“That’s the information we had at the very beginning, that he had fallen back on his chair, he had some sort of medical episode, going stiff and having some sort of seizure type thing and with that he has come to, jumped up and just taken off,” Victoria police Sgts Danny Brown told the Australian Broadcasting Corporation.

Volunteers from the Port Campbell Surf Life Saving Club scoured the coastal area near Princetown near the Twelve Apostles tourist site before they made the grim discovery.

Two of King’s traveling partners identified King’s body.

“They have suffered a trauma as well by losing their friend in the beginning and the worry that goes with that,” Brown told the ABC. “And now to have two friends formally identify one of their own, one of their good close friends and they have been friends for a lot of years, is traumatic on its own.”

Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances and a report will be sent to the coroner, according to the report.
