Ex-Marine walks into police station, confesses to killing parents, dogs: sheriff

A decorated former Marine walked into a Florida police station and calmly confessed to killing his parents and two family dogs, authorities said.

Jacob Daniel Price, 30, had blood on his shirt when he entered the Crestview Police Department early Wednesday.

Deputies later found the bodies of Robert Price, 56, and Jolene Price, 51, in the master bedroom of the couple’s Crestview home, a spokeswoman for the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office told The Post.

Two small dogs, possibly Chihuahuas, were found dead inside the residence, as well as two German shepherds that were unharmed, spokeswoman Michele Nicholson said.

A motive for the slayings remains unclear, Nicholson said.

The Prices were each shot in the head and both dogs appeared to have been shot as well, according to an arrest warrant obtained by the Northwest Florida Daily News.

Price was living at home with his parents at the time of the slayings, the newspaper reports.

He served in the Marine Corps from 2009 through 2013 as a field radio operator and had two tours of duty in 2010 and 2011 as part of Operation Enduring Freedom.

Price also received several commendations during his military service, including the Afghanistan Campaign Medal, the National Defense Service Medal and the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, among others.

But he left the Marines as a private and his rank at discharge is “indicative that the character of his service was incongruent with Marine Corps’ expectations and standard,” according to Marine Corps spokesman Christopher Harrison.

“Due to the associated administrative processes, further details are not releasable,” Harrison wrote in an email.

Price, who has been charged with murder and aggravated animal cruelty, was ordered jailed without bond during his initial court appearance Thursday, WEAR-TV reports.

Prosecutors have not yet decided whether to seek the death penalty in the case, the station reports.
