A Beantown tourist got a rotten taste of the Big Apple when she unknowingly booked a $90 a night Airbnb — in a NYCHA complex.
Rachel Valerio and her mother were appalled when they unlocked the door of their seventh floor rental and were hit with the smell of gas, according to a report.
Next they noticed the roach trap by the bed and “then I saw the letters N-Y-C-H-A in the lobby” of the Fulton Houses in Chelsea, Valerio told The New York Times.
Valerio said she had to Google the acronym to learn it represented the city’s notoriously squalid housing projects.
She promptly alerted Airbnb of the listing, which had been removed by Saturday.
But a second NYCHA listing, at the Queensbridge Houses in Long Island City, remained on the site.
A “Charming, Private Apartment ONLY MINS!! From City,” the 4.2-star listing read.
It received rave reviews.
“Airbnb was clean and very big for 3 people!” one reviewer wrote.
