Yankees vs. Astros: Why it’s smart to take Over in Game 1

The Houston Astros and New York Yankees will be squaring off in the ultimate battle of a tremendous lineup against perhaps the best trio of starters in all of baseball.

The Yankees finally have their full lineup healthy with the likes of Giancarlo Stanton and Edwin Encarnacion in the starting lineup and the team had a combined 23 runs in their series against the Minnesota Twins. The lineup the Yankees used in the ALDS was the same one for three straight games for the first time all season as they had to use 155 starting lineups during the 162 games of the regular season.

Zack Greinke, the Game 1 starter for the Astros, went 8-1 in the regular season for the team after getting traded from the Arizona Diamondbacks, but had allowed four or more earned runs in four of his past seven starts — including his postseason start in Game 3 of the ALDS — with five of his eight starts going Over the total.

Despite jumbled lineups, the Yankees led the league in totals going Over during the regular season in road games, with 61.8 percent of their games going Over the total and have a starter going that serves it up away from Yankee Stadium.

Masahiro Tanaka starting for the Yankees, who has a 6.05 ERA on the road this season, and the Astros scoring the most runs per game at home of any team in baseball should lead to an exciting high-scoring game and the total going Over.
