How to parlay way to success with unique NHL bets

Despite hitting our VSiN Play of the Day last Friday with our parlay on the Chicago Blackhawks-Philadelphia Flyers 1st Period Over 1.5 and the Vegas Golden Knights-San Jose Sharks Over 1.5, these wagers haven’t been as profitable overall this first week of the NHL season as they were last winter and spring.

However, we’ll go with one on Tuesday before deciding if we’re going to back off for a while because we have a worthy matchup with the Winnipeg Jets visiting the Pittsburgh Penguins.

The Penguins were among the “#FollowtheMoney6” 1st Period Over teams from last season as they were 50-32 (61 percent). They’re 0-2 with the bet so far, but we’ll give Sidney Crosby & Co. another try against Winnipeg. The Jets are only 1-2 with 1st Period Overs this young season, but they lost their three top defensemen during the offseason and the injury bug has hit their current roster. With their lack of defense, scoring has been high in Jets’ games as there’s an average of eight goals per game, so we’re just hoping it can be “early and often” against the Penguins.

For those looking for a parlay (which we did with a lot of success last season), I’m considering the Dallas Stars at the Washington Capitals. The Stars were the best 1st Period Under team last season at 55-27 (67 percent). They’re actually off to an 0-3 start this season as they’ve added more offense, but I’ll give them one more try against the Capitals as they need to emphasize the defensive end more as they’re also 0-3 in the standings.

The Play: Penguins 1st Period Over 1.5 (if looking for just a straight play) or parlayed with Stars-Capitals 1st Period Under 1.5.
