After a season-opening wins over the struggling Dolphins and Cardinals, the Ravens have lost back-to-back games and are starting to see their frustrations from the field unfold internally.
In Sunday’s 40-25 loss, Baltimore’s defense surrendered 530 yards to the Browns – the fourth-most allowed in franchise history. And according to NFL.com sources, safety Earl Thomas expressed his frustration with Brandon Williams being inactive during a heated discussion with the defensive tackle in the training room.
NFL.com reports that Ravens personnel intervened before things could become physical. The tiff occurred as Williams was getting dressed and about to leave M&T Bank Stadium when Thomas entered the room.A Ravens official declined comment to NFL.com when asked about what happened between Thomas and Williams.
Williams, in the first year of a four-year, $55 million contract he signed with the Ravens in the spring, was listed as questionable Saturday with a knee injury, although the team was hopeful he’d be able to play Sunday. But the 2018 Pro Bowler ended up sidelined and the defense felt his absence as the Browns rushed for 193 yards.
“It was wide open,” running back Nick Chubb said of his 88-yard touchdown after the game. “You could’ve run though that hole.”
The Ravens have given up 100 points through the first four games of the season and are starting miss defensive veterans Terrell Suggs, Eric Weddle and C.J. Mosley, all of whom the team parted ways with over the offseason.
