Amazon evacuation: New Jersey facility receives threat

An Amazon facility off the New Jersey Turnpike was evacuated Monday afternoon after receiving a threat, authorities said.

The Middlesex County Sheriff’s Office had bomb-sniffing K-9s out at the Carteret distribution center off Exit 12 of the Turnpike, according to local police.

Carteret Police Chief Dennis McFadden said the evacuation was “purely precautionary” as cops investigated, but did not disclose any details about the threat.

“No further information is being released at this time. All threats are taken seriously and are investigated to the fullest,” McFadden said on Facebook.

Amazon did not immediately respond for comment.
