Kawhi Leonard’s cruel reminder that Los Angeles is still a Lakers city

Kawhi Leonard isn’t suddenly going to turn Los Angeles into a Clippers city.

While attending the Rams-Buccaneers game in L.A. on Sunday, the three-time All-Star – who chose the Clippers over the Lakers during his free agency sweepstakes this offseason – was shown on the jumbotron and greeted with a chorus of boos.

It wasn’t quite the entire crowd expressing its disdain, but there definitely weren’t many cheers to counter.

Los Angeles is primarily Lakers territory as the Clippers, who moved from San Diego in 1984, have never been to a conference final while the Lakers have won 12 championships since moving to L.A. in 1960. But those Lakers fans in attendance clearly haven’t forgotten how close they were to securing the reigning NBA Finals MVP.
