‘Frozen 2’ movie: Is ‘Into the Unknown’ the new ‘Let it Go’?

Disney couldn’t hold it back anymore.

The studio’s new trailer for “Frozen 2” debuted Monday, and audiences finally got a taste of the movie-musical’s songs, including the new power ballad “Into The Unknown.”

The track, sung by Idina Menzel as Elsa, is poised to be “Let It Go: 2.0”

That original 2013 tune won the Academy Award for best song, went double platinum in the United States and became the first Disney song to crack the Billboard top 100 since Vanessa Williams’ 1995 cover of “Color of the Wind.”

It’s fairly clear that “Into the Unknown” is the ditty Disney will be banking on. Like “Let It Go,” the song is Menzel’s only solo in the film, and it also features plenty of belting and vaguely inspirational lyrics, which kids will surely memorize instantly.

“Every day’s a little harder, as I feel my power grow,” Menzel sings. “Don’t you know there’s part of me that longs to go… into the unknown!” The score is once again by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez.

“Frozen 2” is has a set release date of Nov. 22. The film’s 11-song soundtrack, which also features covers of the movie’s songs by Panic! At The Disco and Weezer, comes out Nov. 15.
