If Week 3 in the NFL saw six quarterbacks make their first starts in 2019, then there’s no telling what Week 4 will bring.
With several key players from each team seemingly falling by the day – including Giants star running back Saquon Barkley in the team’s first win of the season Sunday – coaching staffs are reaching deep into their benches for replacements.
This week will feature an AFC East matchup between two undefeated squads, a notable mismatch and a team facing its toughest competition while still recovering from losing its starting quarterback.
Here are the top games to watch on Sunday:
New England Patriots at Buffalo Bills (1 p.m. ET – TV: CBS)
The two top teams in the AFC East go head-to-head with both hoping to emerge with complete control of the division. It’s the first time the Bills have won the first three games of the regular season since 2011, but is it enough to beat the reigning Super Bowl champions?
The Patriots have won their last seven games against the Bills and don’t look like anything can get in their way of bringing home a fourth Super Bowl title in the last six years.
Minnesota Vikings at Chicago Bears (4:25 p.m. ET – TV: CBS)
This should be a compelling mismatch featuring the Vikings’ offense and the Bears’ defense, which has been one of the best in the NFL so far this season. Chicago is struggling to get more production out of quarterback Mitchell Trubisky and if he struggles on Sunday then the Vikings’ offense will be tough to beat.
The Vikings’ defense will also serve as a larger test of Trubisky compared to the Redskins core, which gave up 31 points to the Bears on Monday. It’ll be an imperative game for Minnesota to win if it hopes to keep pace with the Packers.
Dallas Cowboys at New Orleans Saints (8:20 p.m. ET – TV: NBC)
The undefeated Cowboys venture on their second road trip of the season to take on the Saints, who recently lost franchise quarterback Drew Brees to a right thumb injury that required surgery. The Saints, however, managed to give the Seahawks their first loss of the season last Sunday with Teddy Bridgewater under center.
It’ll be telling if New Orleans can survive the Cowboys’ dangerous offense, which has already racked up 97 points on opponents through the first three games. — Mollie Walker
