Thousands of eggs fall onto Pennsylvania highway during rush hour

These eggs went over, hard!

A big rig leaving a chicken farm lost control and spilled more than 136,000 eggs onto a Pennsylvania highway — forcing a cleanup crew to scramble.

The driver, Joseph Miles, had just picked up 11,340 dozen eggs from Carl Faus Farm in Hegins Township and was headed uphill on Route 125 on Tuesday morning when the load shifted — and all shell broke loose, police said Wednesday.

The eggs went full Humpty Dumpty as they fell, rolled back down the hill and broke, and officials closed the highway around 9 a.m. for several hours, cops said.

Some of the eggs had been “two-day fertilized” and were being taken to an unnamed incubation hatchery, authorities told the Republican Herald.

Miles, 66, didn’t realize he’d turned the street into a massive mess and continued driving, according to police, who launched an investigation into whether his load was secure.

But observers were quick to crack jokes about the egg roll.

“The driver was in shell shock,” Twitter user @SunWithSnow quipped.

@CrtvPrdx wondered, “Is this a yolk?”

Hegins Valley Fire and Rescue said it planned to use about 20,000 gallons of water to wash away the raw gunk.
