Usually a professional basketball player making uncontested shots during practice is to be expected.
But Markelle Fultz’s career has been anything but usual.
The 2017 first-overall pick seemingly forgot how to shoot after being selected by the 76ers, losing the silky form that turned him into a University of Washington star.
On Wednesday, the Orlando Magic tweeted a hype video showcasing Fultz, along with the caption, “In case you were wondering what Markelle’s been up to.”
Many have, seeing that the 21-year-old has been out of the spotlight since being traded to Orlando last February.
No one has been able to figure out what exactly ruined the guard’s shooting form, though many believe it’s a combination of shoulder issues and the psychological burden of trying to fix his game.
That didn’t happen in Philadelphia, and so after just two contentious seasons the 76ers shipped him off to Orlando in an exchange for Jonathan Simmons, a 2019 first-round pick and 2020 second-rounder at last season’s NBA trade deadline.
Fultz has yet to suit up for his new team. He averaged 7.7 points, 3.1 assists and 3.7 rebounds in just 33 games with Philly through two seasons.
