Jets draft bust Jachai Polite getting chance with Rams

Jets castoff Jachai Polite is getting another shot.

The talented pass-rushing linebacker, who racked up more than $100,000 in Jets fines before being cut just months after being drafted, signed with the Rams practice squad on Tuesday, according to Pro Football Talk.

On Monday, Polite was released from the Seahawks’ practice squad Monday after a three-week stint. It’s unclear what led to Polite being cut because practice squad players are axed all the time without fanfare.

Polite reportedly scared teams off during their interviews with him at the NFL Scouting Combine and spent about 10 percent of his $1.1 million signing bonus with the Jets on fines for violating team rules, including being late for team meetings.

The Rams will give Polite a clean slate, but are already warning that he must uphold team standards.

“I haven’t had a chance to talk to him yet,” Rams coach Sean McVay told reporters Wednesday. “He’s in here, and he’s going to be held to the same standards and expectations as everybody else in this building. There were some good things that he did at Florida that are encouraging. We’re are excited to be able to have him. With that being said, everybody has got a standard to uphold, and he will be in the same line in terms of those things.”
