Bayonne stinks, NJ office of emergency management confirms

Bayonne stinks.

The office of emergency management for the New Jersey city has confirmed there is a foul odor emanating from the Hudson County town, the agency said in a statement.

The county dispatched an “odor surveillance” team on Tuesday evening after several reports of a foul smell were reported in the uptown section of the city.

On Wednesday, the emergency management office said the team confirmed the foul odor, but could not find the source of the stink.

The odor surveillance team also responded to reports of the stench in Jersey City, the agency said in a statement.

This week’s stench is not the first time a strange odor has emanated from the Garden State.

A strange maple syrup smell wafted through sections of Manhattan and northern New Jersey for years in the early 2000s.

In 2009, Mayor Michael Bloomberg announced the mysterious smell was caused by a New Jersey-based fragrance company that processed seeds during its manufacturing process.
