Trump, Biden launch dueling fundraising bids off impeachment developments

President Trump and former Vice President Joe Biden on Tuesday launched dueling fundraising bids to cash in on their dueling calls for investigation of one another.

The Trump campaign sent out messages to supporters blasting House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s announcement of official impeachment proceedings as a “WITCH HUNT” — announcing the forming of an “Impeachment Defense Task Force.”

“Nancy Pelosi just formally called for the first step towards my IMPEACHMENT!” a link to a fundraising website read.

“To fight back, President Trump is launching the Official Impeachment Defense Task Force. This task force will be made up of only President Trump’s most LOYAL supporters.”

Meanwhile, Biden’s team used Trump’s statement that “If a Republican ever did what Joe Biden did … they’d be getting the electric chair” to draw support.

“Trump’s attacks on Joe just keep getting worse and more misleading,” the campaign said. “If you have Joe’s back, chip in now to defend Joe Biden.”

Pelosi announced about 5 p.m. Tuesday evening that the House would move forward on impeachment proceedings.

“The president has admitted to asking the president of Ukraine to take actions which would benefit him politically,” she said.

Pelosi accused Trump of betraying his oath of office and betraying the nation’s national security by allegedly pressuring President Volodymyr Zelensky to investigate Biden and his son Hunter Biden, who served on the board of a Ukrainian natural gas business tainted by corruption.

Trump fought back in a flurry of tweets, accusing Democrats of attempting to “demean” his appearance at the UN General Assembly.

“Such an important day at the United Nations, so much work and so much success, and the Democrats purposely had to ruin and demean it with more breaking news Witch Hunt garbage. So bad for our Country!” he wrote.

“They never even saw the transcript of the call. A total Witch Hunt!” he continued, adding “PRESIDENTIAL HARASSMENT” in a final tweet from Trump Tower, where he is staying while attending the UN gathering.
