Adeiny Hechavarria thanks God he’s no longer a Met

Adeiny Hechavarria won’t let his awkward Mets exit go.

The utility infielder was designated for assignment by the Mets in early August, right before a $1 million roster bonus was set to kick and hasn’t stopped producing since joining the NL East champion Braves.

Hechavarria didn’t hide how happy he is playing for Atlanta while taking a dig at the Mets after going 2-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored in the Braves’ 8-1 win over the Giants on Saturday.

He channeled his inner Joe DiMaggio while doing so.

“I just want to thank God for the opportunity, removing me from the Mets and putting me on this team,” Hechavarria said through an interpreter when asked about his season during an on-field interview.

The former Yankee hit .204 with a 6.11 OPS in 142 at-bats with the Mets this year. He has been a different person in Atlanta, batting .271 with an .824 OPS in 48 at-bats and will get the chance to play in the post season.
