Calgary Stampeders vs. Toronto Argos: CFL prediction, analysis

Calgary’s performance wasn’t pretty Saturday, but it was effective as the Stampeders overcame a slow start in a 19-18 comeback win against Hamilton.

Calgary trailed 14-3 at halftime, but outscored Hamilton 16-4 the rest of the way. QB Bo Levi Mitchell was off target in the first half, but found his usual form while the defense really tightened the screws against the Ticats offense. As nice as that win was for Calgary, it once again failed to get the money as a favorite, which now makes the Stampeders 1-6 against the spread when laying points this season.

That’s a definite concern in this price range, as is the spot for the road team on Friday night in Toronto. Calgary is coming off back-to-back wins against rival Edmonton and Hamilton, which had the best record in the CFL at the time.

This has all the indicators of being a potentially flat spot for the Stamps against a Toronto Argos team that despite its 2-9 record still has been playing hard. The Argos are 2-1 ATS in their last three games. Even in the double-digit loss to Hamilton in that stretch, Toronto led at halftime.

The play: Toronto, +6¹/₂.
