Possibly rabid raccoon terrorizes NJ town, doesn’t stop after getting tased

A raccoon terrorized a New Jersey town on Thursday, biting at least two people and charging at police officers — after they had tased it.

The masked bandit started spreading mayhem in Maywood around 1:30 p.m., when it lunged at an 82-year-old man sitting on a lawn chair and chomped on his finger, arm and leg, the North Jersey Record reported.

At around 2 p.m., the trash panda chased a group of children and one adult to a backyard on Oak Avenue.

About 10 minutes later, the frenzied fiend found its next victim — and attacked a 72-year-old man doing yard work from behind.

Eventually, two police officers cornered the beast and tased it.

But it shrugged the volts off and lunged at the cops, who fired three shots at the crazy creature, but missed.

Finally, Bergen County animal control officers were able to capture the raccoon alive.

The animal will be tested for rabies. Detective Sgt. Matthew Parodi said to expect the results within four business days.

Both the 82-year-old man and the 72-year-old man, who suffered a large wound to his back, refused emergency medical treatment. They’ll each follow up with their personal doctors, Parodi said.
