Moschino does a play on Picasso at Milan fashion week

Jeremy Scott’s notes for the Moschino show at Milan fashion week were brief and to the point with a quote from the designer: “Muses inspire artists and artists inspire the world.”

That statement may be general, but there is a specific artist he had in mind with each look that graced the runway: Picasso.

Abstract designs were aplenty on everything from sharp menswear blazers (the opening look), giant sleeved tops and dresses and even model’s hair.

Scott is never afraid to take a theme too far, and this collection was no exception, with models strutting down the runway in framed paintings and dresses shaped like guitars.

Bella Hadid showed up in a blue and pink Harlequin onesie straight out of one of Picasso’s paintings. To celebrate the late Spanish artist’s heritage, there were also matador ensembles and flamingo polka-dot dresses.

As usual, Scott kept the accessories especially campy and had models carrying purses in a framed painting, a painter’s palette and even paint bucket shape.
