The Giants aren’t the only team making a change at quarterback.
The Dolphins are making the swap to Josh Rosen this week, sending Ryan Fitzpatrick to the bench, according to multiple reports. The change under center comes after back-to-back blowout losses for Miami: The offense mustered 10 points in Week 1 before being shut out by the Patriots last Sunday.
As of Thursday afternoon, the Dolphins were 21.5-point underdogs against the Cowboys on Sunday.
Rosen, the No. 10-overall pick by the Cardinals in the 2018 draft, was traded to Dolphins this offseason after falling out of favor during a regime change in Arizona. As a rookie, he completed 55.2% of his passes for 2,278 yards with 11 touchdowns and 14 interceptions in 14 games, struggling behind an underwhelming offensive line — which he’ll have to do again in Miami.
Miami, a team that has the potential to go 0-16 this season, is essentially tanking ahead of the 2020 draft, which is expected to feature top quarterback prospects Tua Tagovailoa of Alabama and Justin Herbert of Oregon. The 22-year-old Rosen now will get a chance to show Dolphins brass he’s worth building around and to provide a silver lining to this disastrous season.
