In what has seemingly become a yearly tradition, the Jacksonville Jaguars and Tennessee Titans will meet on “Thursday Night Football.”
Not a lot is expected of either offense, with the total dipping below 40, but these are two teams that have not done the best job of getting their defenses off the field this season. The Titans have averaged 64 plays per game on defense and the Jaguars 61.5, both ranking in the bottom half of the league.
Certainly, neither team has an elite passer, which means we will see a pair of very good running backs in Derrick Henry and Leonard Fournette likely taking center stage. With Jacksonville giving up 4.3 yards per rush attempt and the Titans 5.0, both Henry and Fournette should have solid games on the ground.
Though the Jaguars didn’t envision Gardner Minshew starting this game as recently as a few weeks ago, the rookie has done a solid job of running the offense, completing 69.7% of his passes. With Marcus Mariota on the other side having not thrown an interception this season, both teams should be able to put together successful long drives.
With these two teams having played five of their past seven games to the Over and both defenses allowing opposing quarterbacks to complete more than 63.5% of their passes, it should lead to more points being scored than expected.
