Woman documents 7-year-old cottage cheese in work fridge

One woman’s curdled snack has turned into an annual celebration.

Julia Giacoboni took to Reddit to share the long, rancid journey of a container of cottage cheese she opened up seven years ago — and has kept in the fridge ever since.

On Tuesday, the Philly resident shared a composite of the past seven anniversaries of the tub’s expiration date, Sept. 17, 2012.

And, for some stinkin’ reason, it’s captured all of our hearts.

The photo, which went viral with 62,300 impressions and 1,800 comments, shows a smiling Giacoboni through the years with the container in hand. The most recent photo is located in the top left-hand corner.

“It has now survived SEVEN years in our work fridge without being thrown out!” she wrote on Reddit.

Giacoboni told The Post how her 7-year endeavor came to be. It all started not long after she took a job at an advertising agency in 2012, when she brought a tub of Crowley nonfat pineapple cottage cheese to eat for lunch in the office.

But she could hardly muster two spoonfuls of the snack before giving up.

“I hated the taste of it,” Giacoboni, now 32, tells The Post. “It tasted fake.”

Instead of tossing it in the trash, this she-hero put the lid back on, placed the container in the fridge and forgot about it.

“It managed to stay in there for a super long time,” she says. “I stopped working in that office for a couple months and it never got thrown out.”

Now, it’s a running joke. It still lives in the office fridge, dressed with Post-it notes that tell others not to touch it. It even made the move with the rest of the agency to a new Center City office in April.

“Everyone joked that it should have a police escort,” Giacoboni says.

What ultimately happened: Giacoboni took it back home until her new office had a fridge up and running for it to live in, much to her boyfriend’s chagrin.

“‘This has to get out of here,’ ” she recalls him saying.

Comments on Reddit showered praise on Giacoboni for her commitment to not finishing the disgusting dish.

“I’m depressed to think that a container of cottage cheese lasted longer at a company than I ever did,” replied one Reddit user.

Giacoboni says it doesn’t smell with the lid on and, when it’s held, it still feels normal.

“You can jiggle it around and it still feels like a tub of cottage cheese,” she says.

But she hasn’t opened it since that day in 2012.

“Maybe for my 10-year anniversary I would do it as a joke,” she says.
