Pennsylvania Gov. Wolf calls on state Sen. Mike Folmer to resign over child porn bust

Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf called for the immediate resignation of state Sen. Mike Folmer on Wednesday, a day after the Republican was charged with possession of child pornography.

“We elect leaders to serve as a voice for those who do not have the ability to advocate for their own needs, demanding that they will protect our children, families, and communities,” Wolf said in a statement obtained by PennLive. “The charges against Senator Folmer are disgusting and beyond comprehension, and show he has taken advantage of the trust and privilege afforded by the people of Pennsylvania.

“He should immediately resign.”

Folmer, 63, was arrested Tuesday at his Lebanon home as a result of a tip authorities received about someone uploading an image of child pornography.

The four-term senator is charged with possession of child pornography and criminal use of a communication facility.

Images of child porn were also found on Folmer’s cellphone when authorities executed a search warrant.
